Yan Yates is a singer-songwriter making a name for himself on the London acoustic music scene with his “nu-folk” sound. Originally from Middlesbrough, Yan has honed his style as he’s busked around the world and now performs in venues all over London and the UK.
Yan taught himself to play the guitar six years ago as he travelled in Asia and Australia. He spent two years fronting New Zealand indie band, The Stouts, but now performs under his own name, backed by a band with piano (Lily Shea) and lead guitar (Tom Nancollas).
