This Manhattan started as a twinkle in the eye of Matthew Clark and Matthew Dear in early 2007. The idea was to form a band with their own sound, style of music and become something more than another genric cog in the music industry machine. The duo recruited Alex Richards through Matt’s guitar teacher. He added his guitar and own style to the line up and the trio began to work on their own material.
In the summer Duncan Copland was enlisted into the line up and the band worked tirelessly on getting their material together, again keeping the band ethos of making their own blend of style and sound. (Also keeping Alex in cigarettes and Chump in red bull) This Manhattan now have finished writing many songs, and are ready to take over your world…
As from the start, This Manhattan have never wanted to sound like another band, however their influences include, Fightstar, Paramore, Blink 182, Placebo, Feeder, NIN, Sum 41 and Taking Back Sunday (to name a few).
