The Years are an all new London-based five piece; formed in early 2006 the band set out with an agenda to write lilting folk-tinged ballads to gently creep into the collective consciousness of the gig-going public. A few rehearsals down the line the plan took a bit of a swerve, and saw The Years’ sound develop into something all-together more dynamic, more edgy and a lot more rockin’, leading the band to lazily dub their music ‘explosion folk’.Having settled on a sound The Years were happy to call their own, they headed into the studio to record the self-financed ‘here for your own demonstration ep’. The e.p's three tracks showcase the band’s diverse range of sounds, from the quiet-loud, ever-building ‘All The Time’, the harmony drenched ‘God Knows Everything’ (no, The Years are not a religious band, it is sarcasm) through to the final moments of sonic chaos and squalling feedback closing final track ‘You Are Here’.Following a highly successful debut gig in April, The Years were immediately given their first shot as headliners. A few storming gigs later, including a slot at the legendary Kentish Town Bull & Gate, The Years are looking to take on the world; well, all in good time, but for now the band are looking to play as many gigs as possible to build on their early successes.
