The Volt is a talented four-piece band from the West Country. Drawing on many influences, their sound is reminiscent of previous decades, whilst capturing the essence of contemporary music. Phoebe’s dynamic bass-lines create a colourful dimension to their music, and Jack’s lead guitar is steeped with Zeppelin-esque solos and catchy riffs. Domenico powers through fast-paced, choppy drumbeats with a technique which is intrinsically his own, whilst lead singer and rhythm guitarist Sam fronts the band with arrestingly powerful vocals, which together with his mean harmonica playing, echo the folk and blues which inspire him.
Jack and Phoebe have played music together since they were toddlers, but in the last twelve months the band has gone from strength to strength including a powerful KOKO gig and a rammed Glastonbury festival performance. They actively promote their shows, and on stage their energy is palpable with the crowd reaction fuelling their enjoyment and love for what they do best.
Their talent is respected by their growing fanbase and online community, and has also been recognised at a national level. A public vote through MTV’s ‘Get Seen - Get Heard’ took them to the qualification stage of this prestigious competition, and a panel of industry judges put them through to the top 5 semi-finalists and then the final where they were confirmed winners! They have recorded plugged sessions at MTV studios and an acoustic Spanking New Session. In addition they were nominated in the best live unsigned band category at this year’s Vodafone Live Music Awards.
