The Ting Tings were formed after Katie White and Jules De Martino met in Manchester in 2006. Both had been in bands before but decided to form The Ting Tings after they split. They started out playing renowned Salford venue The Mill and soon a buzz started to generate around the band. They released their first double A-side single "That’s Not My Name/Great DJ" in 2007, followed by "Fruit Machine" which received regular radio play. At the start of 2008 they were listed in many "Bands To Watch" lists, by various journalists, including the BBC "Sound of 2008" poll, in which they were voted third. They performed on the 2008 NME Awards Tour and at The Radio One Big Weekend in 2008, which led to a spot on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury. They re-released first single "That's Not My Name" which charted straight at number one on the UK singles chart. This was followed by debut album "We Started Nothing", which was released in May 2008 to wide critical acclaim.
