The Sex Pistols are without doubt one of the most important bands in British rock history. Along with The Clash, they formed the 'punk' movement that still influences bands today and are known for their controversial, challenging and political lyrics. Made up by Johnny Rotten (vocals), Sid Vicious (bass), Steve Jones (guitar) and Paul Cook (drums), the band formed in 1975 in London and originally included Glen Matlock in their line-up on bass. Matlock was replaced by Vicious and the band recorded the landmark album 'Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols'. The album gave The Sex Pistols a huge fanbase and propelled them to worldwide fame. Songs such as 'God Saved The Queen' and 'Anarchy in the UK' featured heavy guitar riffs and uncompromising lyrics that had never been heard before on record. Despite their success, the band split up in 1979 after Rotten left the group and Vicious died of a heroin overdose. The band have since reformed twice, once in 1996 and once in 2007, and remain one of the most influential bands of all time.
