New York’s music scene would never have been the same without the influence of The Ramones. Even today, they are recognised as one of the most influential bands ever to come out of the big apple, and continue to be an inspiration for many new bands throughout the world. Formed in the late 60s, they recorded their debut self-titled album in 1974 and while it included the signature single ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’, it failed to make a commercial impact. They went on to release 13 more albums, the final one being 1995’s ‘Adios Amigos!’ Famous for their members all adopting the Ramone moniker despite not being related, the band shuffled members frequently, with Joey and Johnny Ramone remaining the only constant members. Their pacey, pop-punk style is still synonymous with New York and their leather clad, long hair look is an image still used by many bands.
