Stay a while, I'll put the kettle on and tell you a little bit about the band. Formed in the late winter months of 2008, 'The Rackets' consists of three musicians: Alex Stenhouse (Guitar and Vocals), Nick Daniel (Bass) and Connor Dickson (Drums and Backing Vocals). Hailing from Merseyside, the three spent over a year performing with their previous band 'The Formality'. The band were offered support slots with the likes of: 'Babyshambles', 'The View' and 'The Troubadours'. A gap. It was only until later that year, the three decided to trust their instincts and go it alone.
Their first recorded gig was at a friends party on the banks of the River Dee. The band played sixteen songs outside in the cold and Sten managed to break his forth lead in a month. The date is not known. Their second gig was Korova, Battle of the bands in Liverpool, September 25th, 2008: The Rackets came second and won a bottle of Jack Daniels.
'The Rackets' was thought by Nick after overhearing a conversation between a new tennis coach in their P.E class. The name was also chosen due to the second suggestion being 'Idolshots'. That was not a good name.
The trio began playing Gigs wherever anyone would have them. Getting hold of a vocal PA and some microphones and regularly practicing until the small hours of the morning in Connors bedroom.
