During the last year, indie rock band The Quails have established a reputation as one of the most impressive live bands in the UK with their catchy, quirky lyrics, soaring guitar solos from Max Armstrong and charismatic frontman and song writer Dan Steer.
Highlights include opening for Muse on the first night of their Resistance World Tour, supporting Motorhead at The Bulldog Bash, supporting The Kooks at the beautiful and surreal Eden project, playing in Windsor at the Jack Wills sponsored after polo match party, and playing in Turkey at an EU funded festival just 50 miles from the Iran border. Making a television documentary, making a video, playing on board the Britbus, supporting The Days, headliing BMAD, playing Budstock, and of course some awesome gigs in their home town of Teignmouth. 3,000 people singing along to their catchy and infectious tunes at the Carnival is a great memory. The band released their first album “I’ve Heard it’s all Rumours” almost a year ago, and they are now due to go into Sawmills Studios to begin work on recording their new material.
2010 is the Year of The Quails. Just wait and see.
ALBUM REVIEW
"I'll cut to the chase... Marvellous, Fantastic, Sooper Dooper! 'I've Heard it's All Rumours' is by far one of the best examples of how to put your first album together. Nine tracks of belting anthems that put to shame many albums selling millions. Killers? Kaiser Chiefs? Behave... The Quails hold the answer to what makes a great Indie scene. Unlimited energy, intelligent songs and oodles of charm. Go hear this live before you're paying through the nose to see this band at Wembley"Go To Magazine
GIG REVIEW, THE BLUE BAR, PORTHTOWAN, CORNWALL, February 2009
"The Quails are the perfect package. The quirky five piece from Teignmouth, Devon storm the stage with their classic - rock-edged indie/pop tunes and cool shoes. Visually well-styled they are a record company's dream. With a number of prestigious gigs and an album under their belt, it is unbelievable that The Quails remain unsigned.”
