The Plastic Pals influences

say something, go on, you know you want to..
The Plastic Pals
"New York rock-influenced psychedelic garage powerpop"
"These guys rock, in the vanguard of what seems to be a paisley Viking invasion, still wielding axes but these days they are plugged in and making glorious noises" Rob Ellen, The Medicine Show

Jangly and edgy twin guitars, strong melodies, topping a base of groovy and soulful bass and drums. That´s the recepie for the music of Swedish garage/powerpop/psych band The Plastic Pals. The debut album Good Karma Café has recieved raving reviews in music webzines and blogs asThe Next Big Thing (Lindsay Hutton), Whisperin & Hollerin (former writer for Sounds magazine, Tim Peacock) and Americana UK.

Several tracks from the album have gained a lot of airplay in the USA (WFMU and WFNX, among others), France, England (Music6, Americana UK and House of Mercy), Scotland, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Germany and Greece. Good Karma Café features former Green on Red keyboard maestro Chris Cacavas.

best industry quotes

  1. "If you heard one of these cuts on the radio then whichever one it was, you’d want to know who it was. Those guitars are utterly infectious as they jangle and pummel, sometimes simultaneously." (Lindsay Hutton, The Next Big Thing)
  2. "Opener 'Here Comes The Sun' (no, not that one) is far truer to the record's ideal: bursting with vitality and crunching Mod-pop energy." (Tim Peacock, Whisperin & Hollerin)
  3. "Taking cues from the likes of the Flamin Groovies, Dream Syndicate and Gun Club, this is soulful, driving music, with as much melody as muscle." (Rough Trade)
