The Music formed in Leeds in 1999 after the four members met at school. After receiving praise from NME and Steve Lamacq, their debut EP 'You Might As Well Try to Fuck Me' was released on Hut. They followed this up with their debut, self-titled album which reached number four in the UK chart. Second album 'Welcome to the North' then arrived but was not well received, despite single 'Freedom Fighters' reaching number fifteen. The poor reviews sent singer Robert Harvey into depression and alcohol addiction. The band bounced back however, and released third album 'Strength in Numbers' in 2008.
