The Machines were formed in 1977 by Nick Paul, and in 2006 played a special show to celebrate the release of a compilation CD featuring two rare Machine tracks. The band now comprises of Stephen Reddihough on bass, Steve Machine on drums, together with Nick Paul on guitar and vocals. The two Steve's lay a driving, solid rhythm to which Nick adds his infamous crazed guitar playing. In 1978, The Machines reached the upper end of the alternative charts with their 'True Life' EP, a record now listed in Record Collectors 100 most collectable punk records. John Peel played the song many times on his late night show.Recent recordings have been played on radio stations in America, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Thailand and the UK.The band have played various gigs around the UK and in 2008 played The Rebellion Festival in Blackpool as well as The Brighton Fringe Festival. We take our band very seriously. We promote our gigs as much as possible, by magazine listings, mailing lists, press releases, flyers, posters, various music websites and our own website and myspace sites. The band are looking to play as many gigs as possible, including Europe, America and Asia.
