"splendid melancholia which sounds like a North Country version of Golden Smog or Josh RouseMagnificent songs...shimmering, blissed out odes to putty, wino strength beer and Roy Orbison (amongst other things). Tunes that wrap your soul in marshmallow and toast it over an open fire.."
Nigel has been writing and performing since the early nineties. His first band ‘The Black Squirrels’ were pioneers of the miserablist movement, a kind of Leonard Cohen for the Brit pop generation. Nigel enjoyed the most success with ‘The High Ones’, creating together with Mark Lee a body of classic power pop tunes that travelled well beyond their native London and into Belgium. It was this Belgian connection that took over Nigel’s musical career for a time. The High Ones’ ‘Sunny Day’ was a huge hit in Belgium, distributed through Boom Records and culminating in a major tour. Nigel then worked temporarily for Warner Bros. Belgium as a lyrical consultant. Whilst in Belgium Nigel also struck up contact with Tom Robinson who praised the quality and ‘Beatlesque’ qualities of his songs. In 2007 he returned to his native North Country and, after enlisting the great musical talents of Wes and Els, signed to Nub Country Records. Their live set is now wowing the local and national media.

"Drown" is a real slow-burning number, coming across in a similar manner to the sultry country shades of Ryan Adams, complete with lonesome harmonies. Subtle country vibes are resurrected again on the duet, "Forever Comes," evoking memories of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris with further striking harmonies. Elsewhere, "Tell Her" could be lifted straight from The Beatles back catalogue.
