Over & Out
The Jude
""
With one electricity laden song after another, The Jude have been described as having an "all round Brits go Noo Yoik cool vibe". Their sound comprises of Gav Duffy's Kings of Leon vocal growls with a Velvets throb and a lickle Strokesy staccato guitar fun. The result is a band that sounds far older than the single year it has been active for. According to Room Thirteen, "somewhere between those playful guitars lies the kind of talent that so many bands of today would kill for". Already they have played such London venues as Proud, 93 Feet East, the Halfmoon Putney and the Barfly, and have been building a buzzing fan base from these shows. Recent gigs also include the Vyner Street festival, Steeles Fest '09, and Oxjam @ The Fly - run by MTV and XFM folks. Recording their three track demo after just a month of playing together, you can pick up a copy at their gigs or check out the tunes at myspace.com/wearethejude. Described as the hottest tip of the summer, with stand-out tracks like 'End of the Road' and 'Kids At War', The Jude are surely destined for bigger things - wise to catch them now.

best industry quotes

  1. "Pure and celestial vocals merge magnificently with a Velvets throb and a lickle Strokesy staccato guitar fun for an all round Brits go Noo Yoik cool vibe" - Bugbear
  2. "There’s more to [The] Jude than initial listens suggest. Beneath an exterior of Kings of Leon vocal growls and Stones-esque riffs, is an eminent infectiousness that, whilst clearly indebted to the past, can still stamp their own personal identity without getting lost in a mire of references... What [The] Jude have done is encapsulate the best of the present and past, and they’re the unique owners of a sound so good, you won’t believe nobody’s signed them yet. Classic stuff" - Rock Feedback
  3. "A slice of sunshine to combat the miserable UK weather, [The] Jude have nailed the retro indie sound to something much more exciting... If only more indie bands took a leaf out of [The] Jude’s book. Comprising of the deep throaty vocals of Gavin Duffy set against a retro backdrop, the result is a band that sounds far, far older than the single year it has been active for. Somewhere between those playful guitars lies the kind of talent that so many bands of today would kill for. 12/13" - RoomThirteen
