If you’ve ever had a crush on a burger-flipper, dreamed of crossing the Atlantic in a pedalo, wondered what goes through the mind of a human cannonball or how your grandparents met, then The Heart Strings bumper book of stories for grown-ups is for you. The band's wistfully poppy musical tales of naivety and courage are metaphors for modern life’s ups and downs.
Reminiscent of Stars, Sufjan Stevens and a smidgen of Prefab Sprout, The Heart Strings are about simple tunes, delicate and dreamy instrumental textures and vibrant, smile-inducing lyrics. Lead by twins Todd (Vocals, Bass, Guitar, Keys) and Max (Drums, Piano) Roache, the bands ranks also include Jon Radford (Guitar & Trumpet) and Alexia Hagen (Keys & Vocals).
The band performed live sessions on the Janice Long and Dermot O’Leary shows on BBC Radio 2, were Rough Trade Album of the Week in July 2008 (no. 35 in the Rough Trade Top 50 for 2008) and had a track featured on the Counter Culture Compilation in February 2009.
They are about to record their second album which is scheduled for release in March 2010.
