North East 4 piece indie/rock band the Flytes have secured their place as leaders in the local and national live music scene. Positive press reviews, headlines and comments have kept the band at the forefront of local live music and they have been recognised nationally, making the Final of Live and Unsigned in London from over 10,000 entrants, narrowly missing out on the top spot. With the summer 2008 tour of the Cote d'Azur, a mini tour of Nice in May 09 and a tour in America the boys are certainly spreading their music internationally. The Flytes supported Gomez at Newcastle Carling Academy on their 10th anniversary tour and followed this with a return to headline at The Academy where they played to a sell out crowd for the launch of their new single.
The region is certainly behind the band with Flytes flags all around Sunderland City Centre, Sea front and around the Stadium of Light with the caption "Proud of our Music Scene"!
And after wowing music industry experts when they took a trip to Washington DC to represent Sunderland at the Artomatic festival in May, The Flytes have been invited back.
In August The Flytes landed a top support with Brit Pop Legends The Bluetones and were very well received by the crowd at Legends in Newcastle.
