The Black Marcs started at the end of 2007 and are a mix of mates who go back many years. As with most bands however, it took a little while for the band we now know to be formed. Enter Drummer Mark - a mate from university who used to jam a lot and did the odd cover gig with Neil. Mark took some time out after university and went off to study again, so Neil started The Rigs. Whilst quite popular, the band didn’t work out (despite some of The Black Marcs songs featuring on most set lists) and split up on uneasy terms, something Neil regrets as the Drummer and Bass player of The Rigs were good friends and have become distant since the split. Following The Rigs split, Neil set out to recruit a new band, meeting Andy at work being an opportunity to start afresh, with what would become The Black Marcs. Mark finished his teaching training course and moved back up north, and after talking to Neil, The Black Marcs were born. Enter the newest recruit, Liam, on guitar, bringing a different element ot the bad. Now, with almost an album ready and the band wanting it more than ever its time to keep an eye on these lads who are very much different from what’s out there at the moment. Described as ‘head turners’ with their unique and powerful melodies, it would be a waste if nothing were to come of them, a real waste. 04-04-2009 Update: Long term mate and guitarist Lee is no longer in the band, it wasn't a planned move, but these things happen. So the band has a new guitarist, Liam, who's putting his own mark on past songs and preparing new material and covers. Here's to fresh new things. Cheers.
