Formed in Arizona in 1997, Soulfly are fronted by Brazilian Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left Sepultura. Influential amongst heavy metal bands today, Soulfly fuse thrash metal, groove metal and elements of traditional Brazilian music to create their sound. Since their formation, they have released six studio albums - 'Soulfly' (1998), 'Primitive' (2000), '3' (2002), 'Prophecy' (2004), 'Dark Ages' (2005) and 'Conquer' (2008). The most successful of the releases so far was their debut, which achieved gold status in the USA and silver status in the UK. The band currently features four members, though has gone through several line-up changes in the past. Soulfly are touring throughout August 2008 - playing to their fans who call themselves 'The Tribe'.
