One of the best bands we have heard this year - Maverick
Impeccable, heartfelt song writing – Classic Rock Society
Silverfall are fronted by lead singer/songwriter Jenny Bailey, hailing from Mexborough in South Yorkshire but now living in London, she brings a certain maturity and innocence, along with heartfelt lyrics, to her songs.
During the summer of 2008 the band have been in the studio working on their debut album with producer Ian Grimble (who co-produced the Travis hit singles 'Why Does It Always Rain' & 'Turn' amongst many other projects such as Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Beautiful South, Marc Almond, Everything But The Girl, Texas etc).
Their album titled ‘Ten Years of Talk in Mexico City’, (Mexico City being a CB radio term for Mexborough apparently!) to be released on Tired Horse Records in the Summer is a perfect introduction to the talents of Jenny Bailey. Their first single release from the album ‘Movies’ written by Bailey also features a beautifully haunting interpretation of the 90’s dance track ‘Your Loving Arms’ originally performed by Billie Ray Martin. Their second single ‘When I Fall’ also taken from the album, is due to be released at the end of April. After touring extensively and having supported the likes of Ed Harcourt, the band have also appeared at The BCC Club in London recorded a session for BBC 6 Music’s Bob Harris and been interviewed on the BBC Radio Sheffield’s Gareth Evans mid morning show four times and played a live session. Silverfall are preparing for a heavy schedule of gigs and festivals for 2009.
The band conjures up comparisons to The Cranberries and The Sundays and Jenny’s voice in particular is a throw back to the likes of Stevie Nicks. Influences range from Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Carole King, Eurythmics and Chris Martin.
