Shakers in the Dark prove that atmospheric guitars, electro soundscapes, and pulsing rhythms can create the ultimate in rocking floorfillers – ready to grace any dance floor around. As opposed to other guitar based dance acts, Shakers in the Dark aim to create a big, trance like sound with epic melody and groove laden velocity.
Taking a lead from The Chemical Brothers, The Rapture, MSTKRFT as well as mixing in 90’s house and techno influences, Shakers in the Dark provide a live set that stun audiences and have resulted in support slots with Future of the Left, Paper Route, The Quails and We Are Wolves since inception in January 2009.
The band is made up of a combination of Essex, London and Scottish elements proving a heady mix of influences and styles. Egg (vox & guitars), fronts the band with violent guitar spurts and sweeping vocal melodies while Dave McSkimming (keys & vox) slams the synths into your psyche with both beauty and urgency. In the rhythm section, Paul Traveller (drums) provides the heartbeat of the tunes which draws dancers to the floor like moths to flame.
