Semaphore are two Romans and an Irishman. They’ve played together in various incarnations since meeting in Rome in 2004 before arriving at the current three piece line-up.
Theirs’ is a widescreen sound, images from the Old Testament mingling with modern anxieties, equal parts brutally visceral and achingly tender. Drawing on influences steeped in the idioms of blues and folk, Semaphore play modern songs with a timeless quality.They are currently based in London completing work on their eagerly awaited debut album
