Born in London but with much of his childhood spent in the Middle East, Seb comes to the table with a varied mix of influences that represent his diverse upbringing. In addition to George Michael and Daft Punk, the likes of Jeff Buckley, Sade, Moloko and Lauryn Hill have all helped to shape his unique sound.
By his mid-teens it became clear to Seb that although he loved the music of these artists, he needed to create his own take on what he was hearing. And so he began to write his own songs.
He honed his craft in subsequent years while working various weird and wonderful jobs, including selling cookware to an unsuspecting public (he doesn't know a lot about non-stick), shovelling popcorn at the local multiplex and working for a major label. All the while he was learning how to make big intense records like the ones that he'd grown up listening to, but putting his own heartfelt spin on matters.
And so in the current climate of brash electro, Seb emerges as an altogether more soulful proposition. To quote the singer: "I admire anyone who makes honest music regardless of whether it's cool or credible. You just can't beat a gorgeous melody over a great beat...and if it's ok to dance while no one's watching, all the better."
