Scaramoose was formed in 2007, born from the meeting of John Gardner, Clive Wade and John Eschbaecher. The three members soon found common ground in a mixture of exciting styles including acoustic, blues, and funk, seeking particular influence from the likes of Ben Harper, G. Love, The John Butler Trio, and Xavier Rudd. With a mixture of covers and their refreshing original material, the band soon spread their new trio sound across the country. September 2008 saw the regrettable departure of Clive Wade on bass guitar but also the anticipated arrival of Dave Hodge to replace Clive. The band are currently preparing for the recording of their second E.P, due to be completed in February 2009 and also continue to perform regularly across the country.
Past highlights for Scaramoose have included: Prize winners at the Gardening Club battle of the bands, Covent Garden, London. Support for Donovan Frankenreiter, Angus and Julia Stone and return support for Carus and The True Believers. Main stage performances at the Croyde Bay Oceanfest, Maker Sunshine Festival and headline performance at the Great Hall, Dartington. Scaramoose continue to self organise and promote tours, spreading their infectious sounds and body moving grooves across the UK.
This constant hard graft has been recognised with interviews and air play by the likes of BBC Radio Devon, South Hams Radio and BBC Radio Bristol.
Scaramoose have also become recognisable for their soulful and melodic melodies, having become 'artist and MP3 of the week' on Lemonrock - www.lemonrock.co.uk and also 'album of the month' on Sound Surf - www.soundsurf.co.uk
