Rhyme Asylum are a rap crew known for spitting insane punchlines over ultra-hard beats. Comprised of rappers Skirmish, Possessed and Psiklone, the London group put out their album State of Lunacy last year. It was fantastic, with dark, cryptic concepts and a horror movie mentality, as well as stupidly hot verses. Psiklone takes time out to chat to ltd about open mic nights and Richard Dawkins.

With a debut album due for release in February and killer new single, 'Mowgli`s Road` out later this month, are most people`s safe bet to knock Florence Welch on her delightfully off-beat arse in 2010 and reign supreme in the battle for the goth femme pop throne. And Welsh born 24 year old Marina Diamandis is no stranger to a scrap either. She`s already dissed Lily Allen on her blog and swung punches at annoying punters at gigs. Yes, this girl`s got spunk. And, oh yeah, some pretty bloody good songs too. Little Boots, La Roux et al beware. There`s a new queen in town. We caught up with her on a tour bus headed to Brighton.

James Sherry is what you might call a music industry journeyman. Having started out as an office boy at Metal Hammer in the early nineties, he soon moved into music journalism and from there has done, well, quite a lot really. Stints in A+R and various aspects of music promotion led him to setting up his own PR company, Division, in 2006. Specialising from the outset in heavy rock, punk and metal, it was one of the first PR companies to have a dedicated online wing, and with artists like Gallows, Placebo and Enter Shikari on its roster, Division now stands as one of the hottest names in music PR. Despite these days having his finger wedged firmly in one or two rather impressive pies, Sherry told ltd that at the end of the day, it`s all still about the music. Right on.

As you may have guessed from the title, this Kent based four piece don`t hold back on the drama. With epic, swirling choruses and the type of slick, brooding production that will give White Lies a run for their money in 2010 these guys mean business. And having spent no less than 18 months on their first EP with a who`s who of knob twiddlers that boasts Doves, Massive Attack and Radiohead collaborators among its ranks, success looks about as assured as the dress code (predictably: all black). ltd caught up with front man, Alastair Blackwood.

Novelist, Neil Hart`s, childhood and adolescence was one immersed in art, performance and music. The 33-year-old`s latest project is the novel, Spritz, out now on Fragile Publishing. A black comedy set in Swansea, it tells the tale of alcoholic Bob Flint and is described by the writer as `stark, bleak and depressing yet daft and idiotic; Alan Partridge meets The League of Gentlemen`. Having attracted interest from a number of directors and production companies, Hart is currently re-writing the book in the form of a screenplay, while working on a sequel and a third, separate novel that he describes as a `teenage fantasy adventure`. Hart is also an artist, designing album covers and promotional material for bands. ltd caught up with the writer to talk music.

Geraint Anderson is the author of 'Cityboy: Beer and Loathing in the Square Mile`. Since 2006, he has written the 'Cityboy` column in thelondonpaper, until recently concealing his identity. The column blew the lid off the sordid inner workings of the City of London. He tells us how he took the house at a Lake Tahoe casino after watching the Specials and mistaking Noel Gallagher for Father Christmas.

Anvil - Iron Resolve

There`s no need to re-cap the 32 year history of Anvil here. After all, Sacha Gervasi`s movie about the Canadian metallers, Anvil! The Story Of Anvil, made it into `the number one rock documentary is UK box office history`, according drummer Robb Reiner. As a result Reiner and singer / guitarist Steve 'Lips` Kudlow became international symbols of a never-say-die tenacity triumphing in the face of the fickle music industry, and have seen their initially self-released thirteenth album (er, This Is Thirteen) become the subject of a major label bidding war. As 2009 draws to close the drummer tells Alison B that the fourteenth is already well on the way, and even infamous 'lost` track Thumb Hang is at last being aired.

Five albums and a guaranteed place at hard rock`s top table haven`t got to Biffy Clyro. They might have cheered up a bit since the magnificently miserable Puzzle album, but they still live in one of Scotland`s least fashionable corners and have no plans to move to LA any time soon, as they tell Michael Wylie-Harris
