Portico Quartet consists of Milo Fitzpatrick on double bass, soprano Jack Wyllie on saxophone, Nick Mulvey on hang and percussion and Duncan Bellamy, also on hang and percussion. The group play their own brand of experimental jazz, making use of Mulvey and Bellamy's hang, which gives them a unique sound. After gigging around London for around two years, they signed to Babel in 2007 and released their debut album "Knee Deep in the North Sea". The album was named number one Jazz, folk & world album of the year in 2007 by Time Out magazine. They followed this up with an appearance on the Jazz World stage at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival.
