George Michael has been fined around £100,000 after his opening live performance at the new Wembley Stadium overran by just 13 minutes.
The superstar was the first musician to play at the glitzy £750m football stadium on June 9th, but decided to increase his set by two songs - thus falling foul of strict rules imposed by the local council.
A source reveals: "Wembley has strict rules that gigs must finish at an agreed time or face a £10,000 fine for each minute they continue. George slipped two extra songs into his set and racked up a huge bill. He was enjoying himself so much he didn't care."
A spokesperson from Wembley Stadium said: "Wembley can issue fines for concerts that overrun, but that's between Wembley and the concert promoters."
Other performances at Wembley have included Muse, the Princess Diana tribute concert, and the London leg of Live Earth last week.
