Tony Blair had serious concerns over his 1997 meeting with Noel Gallagher, it has been revealed this week.
Blair's famed 'spin-doctor' Alistair Campbell writes in his diaries, which are being published this month, that the former Prime Minister was worried their high-profile meeting at 10 Downing Street during an afternoon reception could have become an opportunity for rock star antics.
Campbell writes, "TB (Tony Blair) was worried that Noel Gallagher was coming to the reception. he said he had no idea he had been invited. TB felt he was bound to do something crazy."
However, Gallagher behaved himself at the music industry bash, something his record label boss Alan Mcgee, head of Creation Records, said he couldn't promise of Noel's brother. "Alan said he would make sure he did. He said if we had invited Liam," adds Campbell, "it might have been different."
