The famed piano John Lennon wrote the anthemic "Imagine" song with is on the road to promote piece across the United States this month, Sound Generator can report.
The instrument, which was bought by pop star George Michael in 2004 for $1.5m, appeared on Wednesday, April 11 for a photo shoot at Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville to send a message of non-violence to both prisoners and the state jail to bring attention to the growing use of the death penalty in the state of Texas, as well as across America as a whole.
Coinciding with the day of James Lee Clark's execution, the image 'will also serve as a condemnation of Clark's act of violence against the innocent.'
Michael and his partner, Kenny Goss, owner of Goss Gallery in Dallas who commissioned the project, plan to photograph the piano in noted spots across America where acts of violence have taken place.
