
The Darkness have begin life after Justin Hawkins, with the remaining three-piece planning a new name and musical direction.
Enigmatic frontman Hawkins left the band late last year to check into rehab clinic The Priory, revealing a £150,000 cocaine addiction had led to his downfall
[read: Darkness in turmoil! Justin Hawkins quits]. The glam rockers were quickly dropped by Warner Music, but rather than drifting apart, it seems the Lowestoft act are planning for a new album release.
"It's finally happened, the big red record button has been pressed and we've officially started our album," bassist Ritchie Edwards tells fans. Edwards was previously the band's guitar tech, before joining as bassist to cover for the departing Frankie Poullain.
Edwards will also take over duties as the frontman for the new act.
At their height, the Darkness were one of the most hyped bands on the global stage, winning three Brit Awards in 2004.
