This June will see the 150th anniversary of legendary British composer Edward Elgar, and heading up to big performances will be cellist Julian Lloyd Webber.
The revered musician - the brother of Andrew Lloyd Webber - will perform Elgar's much loved Cello Concerto in two locations, starting at 3pm in Worcester Cathedral with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, under Donald Hunt. The show forms part of Elgar's gala birthday celebrations.
Later the same day, Lloyd Webber will play at the Royal Albert Hall for a 7.30pm performance of Cello Concerto.
Elgar wrote the Cello Concerto in 1919 shortly after the end of WW1. The piece is acknowledged as a masterpiece, lamenting the terrible deaths in the great war.
