In a mirror image of his arrest earlier this year, George Michael has been cautioned for possession of cannabis after being found slumped unconscious in his car.
Worried motorists dialled police yesterday to report his car causing an obstruction at a road junction in North London. Upon attending the scene, at traffic lights at the junction of Cricklewood Lane and Hendon Way, Michael was found slumped over the wheel of the car.
Scotland Yard confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and for possession of a substance believed to be cannabis.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "At approximately 3.22am on Sunday officers were informed of a stationary vehicle with a driver inside causing an obstruction at traffic lights in Cricklewood Lane near its junction with Hendon Way, NW2. Officers arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of being unfit to drive and possession of a controlled substance believed to be cannabis."
"The London Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to a west London hospital as precautionary measure. He was later taken into custody at a west London police station and received a caution for possession of cannabis and was bailed to return at a date in November pending further inquiries on the allegation of being unfit to drive."
His partner Kenny Goss told the Sun newspaper this morning that Michael had nothing to say but was 'fine'. "He's fine and I've got him a McDonalds," he said.
This year, health concerns were raised for the pop star after he was found slumped in his car at Hyde Park Corner in February, an act he described as "my own stupid fault as usual".
