A small fire at the historic Royal Albert Hall venue led to the cancellation of a BBC Proms concert over the weekend.
A statement released by the BBC and the venue confirmed that the blaze, which originated in the artists' bar, was quickly contained, and that there was no injuries.
"Due to loss of electrical power following a minor fire at the Royal Albert Hall, it is with great regret that the Royal Albert Hall has been forced to cancel this evening's performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra," it reads.
"We would like to assure you that urgent work is being carried out to repair damage and we aim to make the hall available for full use as soon as possible.
"We hope that both Proms scheduled for Monday 4 September (Prom 67 and 68) will go ahead as planned. A further statement will be issued when any further information is available."
Ticket holders for yesterday's show - which would have featured the Philadelphia Orchestra playing works by Beethoven and Matthias Pintscher - would get a full refund, and are urged to contact their point of sale
At time of press, organizers have confirmed that Prom 67 and Prom 68 today, Monday 4 September, will be going ahead as scheduled.
