Jarvis Cocker is back in a big way, with his first solo single release coming ahead of a live comeback.
"Running The World", which was written on the day of the Live 8 concert, July 7, is being made available online via Jarvis' MySpace page, as well as the iTunes Store.
And on November 15, Cocker will play his first ever solo concert at London's Koko, three days after an appearance at La Cigale in Paris.
"I apologise for all the swearing but sometimes that's the only thing that seems appropriate," he says of the track.
"It's in no way a criticism of Geldof and co but I remember thinking at the time: 'Where does engaging with these politicians/businessmen really get you?' - 12 months on and the c**ts still haven't paid up as far as I can make out."
Cocker's most recent contributions to the musical world were as lead singer of the wizard pop act the Weird Sisters for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soundtrack, as well as writing songs for the debut album of French Sheffield-based act The Lovers.
