Heartbreak inspires the set.Magic Numbers frontman Romeo Stodart has revealed a move away from the love-struck, happy-go-lucky sound that characterised their huge breakthrough album.
The Scottish indie four-piece are in the process of recording tracks for their new, as-yet-unititled set, expected in 2007, and Stodard says in interview how a break-up has shaped their new sound.
"There's a late-night sound to a lot of it," he says. "It's harder edged. "I can't seem to get away from the fact I will never truly love again."
