Pixies summer tour shapes up: includes new UK, U.S. shows
The band also recently revealed plans for a new studio album.The Pixies have announced three further UK shows, including a triumphant London Alexandra Palace show just days after headlining this year's Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals.
As reported last week
[read: Pixies recording new album, first in 14 years], the seminal alt-rockers are in a rich vein of form, touring consistently since their comeback shows last mid-2004 - which included a celebrated performance at the Coachella Festival.
The European leg of their current tour is scheduled to begin August 17 at the Paredes De Coura Festival, before a series of further festival slots across Europe. On August 28, the band travel to Edinburgh to perform as part of the T On The Fringe arts event, and then head back down south for concerts in Manchester and London.
This weekend, the band perform at the Chicago Lollapalooza festival, before a slot on the Street Scene festival in San Diego next week. Along with the UK dates, two U.S. shows have been announced today; Wednesday, August 3 at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ, and Thursday, August 4 at the Empire Center in Albany, NY. The Atlantic City show is on sale now, and the Albany show goes on sale Saturday, July 16, at Noon.
The Frank Black-fronted band will also play their first ever acoustic set on August 6 at the annual Newport Folk Festival, NY.
