U2 have bagged the UK number one album this week with their 13th album "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb".

The band, who this week played an impromptu 40-minute show underneath the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, knock Eminem's "Encore" down to two after two weeks at the top.

Girls Aloud remain top of the singles chart with their single "I'll Stand By You".

Highest new entry this week sees Geri Halliwell return to chart action with her new single "Ride It". Also new in the top twenty are Nelly & Christina Aguilera with "Tilt Ya Head Back" at five, Brian McFadden's "Irish Son" at six, Shania Twain's "Party For Two" ft. Mark McGrath at ten, Uniting Nations' "Out of Touch" at 12, Jay-Z/Linkin Park's "Numb/Encore" at 14 and Keane's "This Is The Last Time" at 18.

With U2 bagging the highest new entry on the album chart, the remainder of the new entries go to Kylie's "Ultimate Kylie" at four, Gwen Stefani's "Love Angel Music Baby" at 14, Delta Goodrem's "Mistaken Identity" at 25 and Snoop Dogg's "R&G - The Masterpiece" lands at 33.
