Beck has gone back to basics with his eighth studio album, produced with long-time collaborators The Dust Brothers, aka Mike Simpson and John King.
The eclectic solo artist has finishing recording sessions on the as-yet-unnamed record, with mixing sessions well underway in Los Angeles:
"It's pretty aggressive," Beck said to Rolling Stone in a recent interview.
"I've been working on it for a while, but I ended up doing Sea Change first. I've been wanting to do a record with loud guitars for a long time."
Beck has always stated that 2002's mostly acoustic "Sea Change" would be followed by an album back in the traditional vein of big production and varied instrumentation. 1999's "Midnight Vultures" typified this, along with 1996's "Odelay", was produced by The Dust Brothers.
An October release date has been scheduled.
In other news, Beck's breakthrough album "Mellow Gold" is being commemorated for its ten-year anniversary with a weekly series of films about the history and making of the album. Check out beck.com for more info.
