Charlotte Church, the young Welsh soprano has thrown classical music to one side in an attempt to change the course of her career. The young singer, who has had her fair share of turmoil and success over the last few years, is making a stab at the pop charts as vocalist on a new dance track.
The new single, which is released in the UK today (Mon 20th Jan), sees Church provide the vocals on ‘The Opera Song’ a dance track by Jurgen Vries. She is credited under her initials CMC.
The last week has seen the young singer promoting the new release on chat shows across the country. She seems to think that pop will be an easier journey than opera.
"Opera is a lot of work. If I wanted to be a proper opera singer I'd have to train for hours a day," says Charlotte and added that she has only been to the opera once. "Opera is beautiful and I used to like it a lot but now my taste has changed. I've got into other music."
She also hinted that she will be writing and recording new tracks and in a very new style and not recording anymore opera tracks.
She told Radio One’s Chris Moyles,"It won't be poppy, or dancey. It'll be R'n'B if anything," she said. "I want to do something really different, really original. It'll have nothing to do with classical."
