U2 sold more tour tickets in North America than any other band in 2009.

U2 threw the most successful North America tour of the past year, it has been claimed.
Music publication Pollstar said that the band saw off competition from a host of other leading lights by selling 1.3 million tickets in the US and Canada, amounting to £76.3 million.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band came in second place with sales worth £58.6 million, followed by Elton John and Billy Joel's Face 2 Face joint tour.
Fourth place was taken by Britney Spears, AC/DC took fifth and country musician Kenny Chesney occupied the sixth spot.
The remaining acts in the top ten bestselling US tours are the Jonas Brothers, the Dave Matthews Band, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica.
Pollstar commented: "So much for the 'great recession'. When it comes to live music, 2009 was worth being around for."
Recently, the Performing Rights Society said Status Quo were the hardest working band in the UK last year, after they appeared at 27 arenas and entertained over 250,000 fans.
