Muse have been named best act in the world ahead of Oasis and Coldplay.

Muse won the best act in the world today prize at yesterday's (October 26th) Q Awards 2009, pipping some of the music world's leading lights to the post.
The band triumphed over a shortlist which included Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and Coldplay.
Q editor Paul Rees handed Muse the award at a ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, before comedian Al Murray gave them a raw chicken "for the forthcoming apocalypse" which is mentioned on their fifth album The Resistance.
Other winners included White Lies taking best new act, Spandau Ballet being named Q idol and The Specials scooping the Q inspiration prize.
Meanwhile, the innovation in sound award went to Sonic Youth, best track was awarded to Lily Allen for The Fear and the Q outstanding contribution to music honour was given to former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.
Last year's Q best act in the world was awarded to Coldplay, who also took home the best album prize for Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.
