The Isle of Wight gains around £15 million from its annual music festival, it is claimed.

The recent Isle of Wight Festival caused a £15 million boost to the local economy, it has been reported.
Speaking to BBC News, John Metcalfe, Isle of Wight Council's assistant director for economic development and tourism, said that music lovers heading to the area spend around £10 million in its shops.
In addition, the festival's organisers buy goods and services from the Isle of Wight's businesses and organisations, bringing the total benefit to an approximate total of £15 million, he claimed.
"It is a huge figure and in only eight years the event has changed how people see the island and the impression of the place," Mr Metcalfe told the news provider.
Annie March, manager of outdoor clothing and equipment chain Blacks in Newport, also explained that people forget to bring camping equipment, while others choose to buy all their supplies on the island.
This year's Isle of Wight Festival, which ran from June 12th to 14th, featured performances from The Prodigy, Sterophonics, Razorlight, Neil Young, Maximo Park, Pixies and White Lies.
