Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody is currently putting in work on two solo side projects, it has been reported.
The singer told Radio 1's Newsbeat that he is laying down music which would not work on a Snow Patrol album.
Lightbody explained that he is making an abstract album called Listen Tank with producer Jacknife Lee, who has produced Snow Patrol's last three records, and is also putting together a country effort entitled Tired Pony.
He told the programme: "A lot of the stuff I've been writing recently is just so leftfield that it just wouldn't fit on a Snow Patrol record."
The musician also revealed that vocals have been used on the album as an instrument, with the result sounding like an "underwater choir", while the country songs are something that he "wanted to get out of [his] system".
Recently, CSS front Lovefoxxx told NME.com that she had banned herself from writing music after feeling stressed from touring with the band.
She also said that CSS will return in 2010 with an experimental record.
