Britpop icon Jarvis Cocker has released a statement clarifying his political postion.

Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has denied that he supports the Conservative party.
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the singer suggested that Labour has been in power for so long, it may be "necessary" to have a Tory government.
However, Cocker soon released a statement making his position more clear.
In the message, the 45-year-old revealed: "In no way am I supporting or suggesting that a Conservative government is a good thing, far from it."
Cocker also said he takes issue with prime minister Gordon Brown attempting to bail out a banking industry which "clearly doesn't work".
The Britpop icon added that many people are disengaged with the political process because they believe the government does not listen to them and cited the Stop The War march as an example.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Cocker will be playing this year's Green Man Festival, which also features performances from The Amorphous Androgynous, British Sea Power and Animal Collective.
