The Beatle's original catalogue is to be re-released later this year after being digitally remastered.

Engineers at Abbey Road studios have been working on the 12 albums for four years, using cutting-edge technology with vintage studio equipment.

The team has worked through 525 minutes of the music legends' analogue tapes to improve the sound qualities and remove any flaws.

All 12 original albums, plus Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters Vol I and II, will be launched on September 9th, with the release coinciding with the unveiling of The Beatles: Rock Band video game.

Ernie Sutton, the treasurer of the British Beatles Fan Club, told the Daily Mail: "They need to try to keep the recordings as true to the original as possible but maybe just clean up some the background noise, especially on earlier recordings."

Surviving Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr appeared together on stage for the first time in seven years recently, when they played at a benefit concert in New York.
