Vedder and McCartney to play meditation event
A host of musicians will perform at a gig promoting transcendental meditation.
Vedder to play transcendental meditation fundraiser Music stars Eddie Vedder and Sir Paul McCartney are to appear at a transcendental meditation event hosted by movie director David Lynch.

Pearl Jam frontman Vedder and the former Beatle will play a benefit concert at Radio City Hall in New York for the David Lynch Foundation.

Lynch is a prominent member of the Transcendental Meditation Movement, which believes enlightenment and world peace can be gained through 'yogic flying' or levitation through the power of the mind.

On his website, the Blue Velvet director writes: "I have been 'diving within' through the transcendental meditation technique for over 30 years. It has changed my life, my world. I am not alone."

He also claims that every child should be allowed time to meditate and is calling for schools to introduce the practice as part of their curriculum.

The musicians will perform at the fundraising event on April 4th, as will country singer Sheryl Crow, dance star Moby and Scottish songwriter Donovan.

Earlier this week, the rumour mill went into overdrive claiming Sir Paul McCartney is planning to marry new girlfriend Nancy Shevell, after one year together.

Thanks for the news! My children went to a school where TM was part of the curriculum, and they absolutely blossomed there. Readers might like to know about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation, which include normalization in blood pressure, decreased anxiety, increased brain coherence, increased intelligence, increased self-actualization, and more. I recommend http://www.tmeducation.org/ for details.

It looks like Paul McCartney is still a fan of Transcendental Meditation - with good reason. As a naturopathic doctor, I wish all my patients would practice TM. The technique is so effective at relieving stress and the ailments that often accompany stress. Practicing TM helps people take control of their own mental and physical health and reduces the need for drugs, surgery and hospitals.

It’s great that big name artists are supporting the David Lynch Foundation’s efforts to teach 1 million children TM. I’ve been practicing TM for a while now, and it has transformed my life. I feel happy and capable of fulfilling my desires; whereas previously I didn’t. And I’m not alone in these results. The DLF was created because so many people worldwide have benefitted from TM. See Transcendental Meditation & Classroom Stress This concert will help a million young people to receive these advantages in their own lives.
