Deftones bassist Chi Cheng is in hospital after being involved in a car crash on Monday (November 3rd).

A post on the band's website from Chino states the musician is in a hospital in California recovering from the injuries he suffered in the collision.

The note says Chi is in a serious but stable condition and Chino urged fans to keep him in their thoughts while he attempts to get better.

"Chi is one of the strongest people I know, and I'm praying that his strength will get him through this. Please say a prayer for him as well," the band member stated.

The Deftones originate from Sacramento, California, and have been friends since early childhood.

In 1995, the band released their first album, Adrenaline, which featured songs such as Nosebleed, Seven Words and Lifter.

The record sold 500,000 copies and they followed it up with their sophomore offering, Around the Fur.
