Sam Taylor-Wood to direct a new production about the singer's formative years.
A film about the early years of the late Beatles icon John Lennon is set to go ahead, it has been reported.
Screen Daily magazine claims artist Sam Taylor-Wood will direct the piece while Matt Greenhalgh, who wrote the movie Control, will be responsible for the screenplay.
The film will examine the early years of the singer's life and his upbringing in his home city of Liverpool, with particular attention paid to the influence his mother and aunt had on his development.
Ms Taylor-Wood told the publication the piece grabbed her instantly from the moment she read it.
"I knew as I closed the final page that this was the film I had been looking to direct … the story spoke to me on so many levels - both personal and artistic," she said.
Meanwhile, the Metro newspaper claims Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star Kate Winslet is in line to play Lennon's mother in the production.
