Bloc Party played a 14 song set in support of closing band The Killers, on the main stage Sunday at Leeds.
Frontman Kele Okereke revealed on stage that he would like to headline the festival one day, announcing – ‘Hopefully next time you see us at this festival, we’ll be headlining’.
Opening with latest release ‘Mercury’, the band relied mainly on material from debut album ‘Silent Alarm’, though there was also an airing of new song ‘One Off Month’.
The band’s electronic rock style attracted a huge crowd at the festival, with many singing along to better known songs such as ‘Banquet’ and ‘Two More Years’. The throng of fans at the front of the stage were bouncing throughout, though slower songs such as ‘So Here We Are’ forced Okereke to question the crowd’s energy saying – "I know it's a Sunday night, but you must have it in you to go crazy. Let's not draw on the negatives, though, eh?"
Closing with the choppy riff of ‘Helicopter’ the band exited the stage to a huge cheer after an undoubtedly successful performance.
