Mark Ronson has revealed that the first band to sign to his new record label are indie types The Rumble Strips.
Ronson’s label Allido Records, which he set up in 2006, has previously released work by Rhymefest and Daniel Merriweather but The Rumble Strips have become the first band on the label.
The producer told reporters that it was a rework of another song that made him notice the band: "I came across The Rumble Strips through their cover of 'Back To Black', and Amy [Winehouse] and I agreed it was kind of better than our own.”
He continued: “I picked up their album and fell in love with it. I decided I wanted to sign them to my label and work on their next album. It was really as straightforward as that. We're all very excited about this".
The band’s debut album ‘Girls and Weather’ was released in September 2007 on Fallout Records, a branch of Universal. The album reached number 70 in the UK charts with single ‘Girls and Boys in Love’ reaching number 64 in the singles chart. The new record is due for release in spring next year.
