Rare Lennon And Jagger Recording To Go On Sale
A 10” acetate recording of a Mick Jagger and John Lennon recording is expected to fetch a high price when auctioned next month.
Soundgenerator reported on the 15th January that an auction would be selling a rare recording of Jagger and lennon. Since then more details have come to light as to its origins.

A 10” acetate recording of a Mick Jagger and John Lennon recording is expected to fetch a high price when auctioned next month.
The unreleased musical collaboration between two of the UK’s finest songwriters and performers has been discovered more than a quarter of a century after it was recorded.

Tom Fisher a South London record store owner, bought the record for £20 four years ago after someone offered the record to him. The seller said that he was a friend of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and that he had in fact given him many records. Fisher took a gamble by buying it but believes the gamble will certainly ‘pay off’.

It was necessary to confirm it’s authenticity and so far it has proved to be original. It is a cover of the blues song ‘Too Many’, written by Willie Dixon. The recording features Lennon on guitar and Jagger on vocals. Mick Jagger himself has said that it is authentic and even Yoko Ono believes that it is real, stating that it was recorded during her late husband’s so-called ‘Lost Weekend’ period.

The auction takes place on February 20th and will feature other items of extreme interest and value from the rock world. As reported earlier this month by soundgenerator, the black left-handed fender Stratocaster guitar used by Kirk Cobain is part of the sale. Other items include Hendrix’ white Stratocaster and an original early test pressing recording of Elvis Presley.
